The 1st Permaculture East African Mini Convergence 28 -29 May, 2018

Background:

The East African Permaculture Convergence is a 2 day conference bringing together practitioners and interested parties from across East Africa to highlight and explore the potentials for permaculture education and project development in the region. 

We invite policy makers, budget heads, head teachers strategic planners, NGO heads etc. to meet leading permaculture teachers and practitioners and enablers at this ground breaking event. 

Permaculture addresses climate change justice, food security, education for enterprise development and offers a powerful tool kit to all environment sector based organisations, community workers and scholars of natural resources and agriculture. 

We will discuss permaculture's relevance to key local community, national and global efforts and how to make contributions using permaculture  more effective. 

Day one: (28th May) Permaculture best practice and potentials, a showcase for what permaculture can offer- this is your chance to find out more about permaculture and how and it can be relevant to your sectoral interest.

Day two: (29th May) Delivering on the potentials - day for teachers and practitioners, we are planning the launch of the Permaculture Academy for on going teacher education and also plotting the pathway for Africa (joint Africa bid) to host the 2021 International Permaculture Convergence. ( a bi- annual global permaculture conference)


The specific Objectives/ areas of interest
  1.  Permaculture in a school environment, links to curriculum and on site activities. 
  2. Permaculture landscapes, design, food forests, plant nurseries and propagation, 
  3. Permaculture and bio energy: Methane digestion, grazing scheme s, biochar, coppice and wood gassification.
  4. Permaculture and enterprise - creating jobs nd ddesigning sustainable business models using permacuture


Brief
E.A. Permaculture Convergence at Sabina School. We will have just completed a 2 week residency at the school and it seemed like a great opportunity to invite broader participation and to profile the work of permaculture in East Africa
Region.
Day 1: 28th May
Outward facing: A chance to profile the work of EA permaculture. Projects a groups. Invites to opinion formers and budget heads. Who do we need to reach out to demonstrate the potentials for Permaculture design in education and as a business model, especially for small farmers, refugees and new enterprises in references to the specific objectives .

Day 2: 29th May
Inward facing: Practitioners, enables, teachers, project developers. Where next/ what do we need to put in place to achieve the Potentials outlined and highlighted in day one in reference to achieve the set objectives with time lines.

PRI-UG demonstration site Stop Over for those who will not have not attended PDC ..
At Buwama and between Kampala and Masaka, this established , Permaculture farm has high ecological standards and can serve as a stop off visit point for people travelling to Sanje and Sabina school , Small scale demonstrations of biogas, compost, integrated farming with pasture, grazing, wildlife habitat maintenance, fish farming, veggies and education. At Buwama.

How to Book a slot?
Book in advance to avoid disappointments since there is a set limit of the Number of participants needed for this Convergence, send an email requesting for the registration form convergence@broadfieldpermaculture.co.uk or charles@broadfiledpermaculture.co.uk 

Convergence fees:, 50.7 Pounds  .

Payment can be completed : International Payment is done with Sector 39  or BEU 
After receiving your Payment a receipt  will be generated   and  you need  present it on arrival.

What you should carry?
You need to carry your own towel and other personal body sanitary and a receipt a copy of your registration form.

How can you Partner or contribute?

All Interested partners are welcome, sponsors, donors , beneficiaries.   1. I am trying to apply by filling out the form at the link provided but there appears to be an error in the telephone number section of the form, which means that the form cannot be submitted. Is anyone else experiencing this? Please check and correct.

    1. I ran into the same issue, so I ended up just leaving that section blank and submitted my registration that way
